The Strange Life of Rudolf Hess

Rudolf Hess led a life that could have come straight out of a spy novel. It is full of all manner of bizarre twists and turns. Hess was a high ranking Nazi who was given the title of Deputy to the Fuhrer. Apparently in 1941 Hess flew to Scotland. But was chased by British planes. He survived the ensuing crash and was taken to the Duke of Hamilton. He claimed he had come to seek a peace agreement between Britain and Germany. However, after spending time in the Tower of London he was tried at Nuremberg and found guilty of conspiracy carrying a life sentence. He spent his sentence at Berlin’s Spandau Prison as its only prisoner! However, some say the man in prison was an imposter!
