The Strange Life of Rudolf Hess

Rudolf Hess led a life that could have come straight out of a spy novel. It is full of all manner of bizarre twists and turns. Hess was a high ranking Nazi who was given the title of Deputy to the Fuhrer. Apparently in 1941 Hess flew to Scotland. But was chased by British planes. He survived the ensuing crash and was taken to the Duke of Hamilton. He claimed he had come to seek a peace agreement between Britain and Germany. However, after spending time in the Tower of London he was tried at Nuremberg and found guilty of conspiracy carrying a life sentence. He spent his sentence at Berlin’s Spandau Prison as its only prisoner! However, some say the man in prison was an imposter!

The Disappearance of Flight 19

One of the most famous mysteries of World War 2 is what happened to Flight 19 – although technically, it happened a couple of months after the war ended. Basically, Lieutenant Charles Taylor led a flight of 5 Avenger planes on a training mission out of Fort Lauderdale. He complained over the radio that the compasses were not working and that they were lost. The planes went missing and were never found. It has bee assumed they simply ran out of fuel after flying around for hours, but many feel it was the Bermuda Triangle at work!

Grief always change people…

Have you ever been able to feel like you were of no help at all? That one feeling that we get when we can’t do anything but be silent and just sit there and try to think of the things that might have happened if ever we were different? We contemplate a lot of things and we think of a lot of things. We are not able to be of help and we don’t want that. It’s a mystery, but people will always have the urge to do everything that they can. Its in the mission that we, humans are here for. But with a lot of things making its way in our lives, there will be some things that won’t be able to be controlled.
As there are already a lot of thing that we are unable to put our hands on, it seems that a tragedy has shaped the lives of Blu Stephanos when his son, Austin and his long time friend Perry Cohen when they both set out on a boat to have a fishing trip together last July 24. It seemed like a normal thing that these two best friends will do, but it was when the two didn’t e back later that evening. Their parents were so worried and alarmed only to find the boat that the two was on, two days later about 67 miles off of Daytona Beach. They were devastated, and Stephanos, who admitted that he was usually the one helping, has received much help from their locality. The whole town has seen their bonds and they have grieved together. But Stephanos seemed that he wouldn’t give up.

Losing a child may have been the greatest thing that a parent would not want to experience. And as for Blu, he lost his child who was only 14 years old. But he didn’t want anyone’s efforts in supporting him come to something unproductive. In fact, he was able to conduct a private search and rescue throughout Florida. But when the search seemed to have turned in vain when they finished in August, Blu, decided to make everyone secure and easy to find whenever they set out on water. Blue was able to get hi eyes on emergency position indicator radio beacons, commonly known as EPIRBs, and personal locator beacons, or PLBs. These devices will help people send distress signals manually or it will do it for them, when the boat that was installed upon has received an alarming amount of water. This has even been petitioned to be a law in the request of Blue with the AustinBlu Foundation that was raised for the memory of his child. As of now, there is still no news whether the bill was approved but Blu is pleading the state of Florida to approve it, since this will be helping more people, not his selfish desires.

A Seawall That Proves Strong Infrastructure Can Be Pretty, Too

A Seawall That Proves Strong Infrastructure Can Be Pretty, Too

Seawalls are considered boring and plain, but this seawall definitely made a change…

1
We all have had that once encounter with seawalls once in our lives, and we know that they can sometimes be ugly, un-manicured slabs of concrete that the owners doesn’t even care to mend as long as its doing its job. Its definitely nice to put up a seawall especially when you’re living off the coast of the beach. But in this case, due to Vancouver witnessing some badass record breaking tides back in December of 2012, everyone in English Bay coastline had to suffer with what they call ‘king tides’ that go up a tenth of their property and washing away everything it can. It was due to the gravitational pull of the sun and moon, but It has been making a lot of problems for homeowners since they don’t want their property to be washed away.
Barne Sali and Roxanne Diaz were specifically growing some plants, so it was a big deal to them. They talked with the city inspectors and they were advised to put up a fence because, nature is nature, and we can make commands and alter nature. In any case, this led to the couple hiring a landscape architect who will be able to get the job done.
But speaking of building seawalls, you wont actually be having thoughts of hiring an architect to get the job done, but an engineer or a contractor. Well, that is if you don’t want to spend as much as 650,000 Canadian dollars (USD 478,000). Anyway, what the couple had in mind is something that is something to do with agriculture and hired Vikas Tanwar’s team. They then have to work with biologists and engineers to make amends of what their client want and it soon turned to be a public art. The seawall is a beautiful design using the natural formations of sandstone done in geometric shapes that makes it a little more badass than it really is.

And as for a wall, it is something that you can be proud of and this is definitely not something that you will be seeing every day. The wall’s finish is Corten steel that is filled with shortcreate (a concrete blasted out of a hose) and along with the geometric shapes of the structure made it look like its going to be rolling at the waves if it spreads. The exterior material used, Corten, is also known to last up to 75-100 years of water battering it. Those walls also made us remember of bouncers in clubs that are able to hold on and maintain peace and control over everyone else in the club. Anyway, that wall can also be thought of as a sculpture since it looks like one especially with that rustic color.
The design also won an award back in September from the American Society of Landscape Architects. Never will people be able to think of seawalls as plain boring concrete, since this one is out of the box. This will definitely be copied and used as inspiration in designs all over the neighboring cities and states.
